About Us

At Aprexis, our mission is to create a solution for effectively navigating medication therapy management programs. Aprexis’ unique offering of cloud-based software system incorporates evidence-based guidelines for care and makes it possible to successfully monitor the effectiveness of deployed MTM programs. Based in Burlington, Vermont, Aprexis was founded in 2009 and is a privately held corporation.

For the first time, there is a solution that combines software and a service. Aprexis offers a technology platform that specifically meets the needs of pharmacists, providers and health plans. Through the implementation of patient identification and program creation, pharmacist intervention, and system administration, Aprexis provides complete answer for managing MTM. In addition, Aprexis differentiates itself by providing a unique Pharmacy Network Service that aids in the building of a participating pharmacy networks within a region.

Leadership

Nancy Bundek, Ph.D. Founder

Dr. Nancy Bundek founded Aprexis with her partner, Robert Squire, in 2009. As an outside consultant, she oversaw the development of adherence modules and care management software for InnovationRx, from which Aprexis evolved. Nancy brings more than 25 years of experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of technology-based care management systems that incorporate proven, evidence-based findings as the foundation for clinical content development.

Her previous positions include serving as Vice President of Clinical Services at iCare Health Monitoring, a provider of in-home care monitoring services to elderly patients. Prior to joining iCare, Nancy served as Director of New Product Development for Walgreens Health Initiatives. At WHI she led a team of clinical pharmacists who created pharmacist-directed programs to enable delivery of disease management program within a community pharmacy environment. Nancy was also affiliated with Pfizer Health Solutions, the disease management subsidiary of Pfizer, where she had responsibility for both clinical and outcomes research, supporting new business development with the national accounts team.

She has served on the Advisory Board of the Pharmacy Foundation of California and has been an active participant in the National Consumer League’s Script Your Future, a national program to improve medication adherence. Nancy holds an adjunct faculty position at the Albany School of Pharmacy. She earned her Ph.D. in Preventive Medicine from the University of Southern California (USC), School of Medicine and has an undergraduate degree in Business Administration. She has taught both graduate and undergraduate courses in theories of health behavior and medication adherence at USC.

Sandra Wright Senior VP of Product Development

Sandra is responsible for product development and client relations for Aprexis Health Solutions.

She brings 15 years experience in the health and wellness industries, with significant experience in product launch activities for technology-based startup companies. Sandra has managed corporate relationships with key business partners, marketing agencies, and national retailers. She has overseen product development, implementation of national marketing plans, Sandra has also led implementation of merchandising programs, staff training, and retail launches, and creation and dissemination of training modules. Sandra has also had responsibility for securing local and national media coverage for launch-related events. Prior to joining Aprexis Health Solutions, Sandra worked as a Marketing Consultant, providing project management services and market research for multiple marketing organizations, and medical device companies. She also served as Marketing Coordinator for iCare Health Monitoring, Inc., a provider of home health monitoring services and as Marketing/Public Relations Associate for HealtheTech, Inc., a provider of devices and software for the measurement and monitoring of metabolic rates.

Sandra earned a Bachelors of Arts degree in Liberal Arts from Bob Jones University.

Gencie Turner, Ph.D. Director of Clinical Development

Gencie is responsible for the clinical content of each module included in the Aprexis MTM platform. In this capacity, she manages the development work of clinical subject matter experts who contribute to the disease management components of Aprexis Health Solutions.

She brings more than 20 years of experience in health research methodology, outcomes analysis, and medical writing to Aprexis. Prior to her affiliation with Aprexis Health Solutions, Gencie managed the Children’s Oncology Group’s clinical trial study development office, working with clinicians, researchers, and regulatory agencies to ensure accurate and robust clinical trial protocols. Prior to that, Gencie served as a Consultant with Pfizer Health Solutions, providing clinical content development and leading the NCQA certification process for the company’s chronic disease management software platform. Gencie also has experience as a Research Scientist with RAND in Santa Monica. While at RAND, she had responsibility for outcomes research and program evaluation for a community-based breast cancer prevention study.

Gencie holds a Doctorate in Health Behavior Research from the University of Southern California, School of Medicine.

Michael Howe Strategy & Technology

Michael Howe is responsible for the DevOps of Aprexis' flagship product, the premiere MTM application on the market today. Michael also provides Strategic Consulting, including business plan & sales strategy development.

Michael has made a career of building disruptive applications for an assortment of industries. Mr. Howe has overseen the development of projects in the micro array field (Super Array/Qiagen—the first online image capture and analysis application for biological arrays), the semiconductor field (NYSE:AMD—a project developing organic semiconductor technology, so-called ‘thin-film’ polymer memory), the personalized medicine field (20/20 Gene Systems—the first multi-layered system for the image analysis of electrophoresis gels), the voting and election space (Overseas Vote Foundation and US Vote Foundation), the news analysis space (GNI/Novetta), telecommunications field (Last Mile Connections—the first online real-time marketplace for broadband services), and the 3D visualization field (Global Haptics—the core software and Plug-ins for the first hardware device that is actually mapped to physical space). Mr. Howe has also overseen development projects for Barack Obama’s presidential campaign, FedEx, Exxon/Mobil, AARP, and Blue Cross Blue Shield among others.

Before entering the world of software design, Mr. Howe was a producer for Re-Bop records and a Manufacturing Sourcing Consultant for Falcon Products (ex-NYSE:FCP). Mr. Howe is a member of the VT Software Developer’s Alliance. He received a B.A. from Bowdoin College.

Daemmon Hughes Director of Software Development

Daemmon leads the software development of Aprexis’ MTM Case Management tool.

Daemmon has over 18 years of experience as a project manager, architect and software developer. He has worked on and led agile development teams with a particular emphasis on iterative development and short release cycles. He has designed and built high availability systems and has working knowledge of a broad range of software technologies with a strong focus on open source tools and open standards. Daemmon has also worked on and managed projects for a range of organizations including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Dealer Dot Com, The Vermont Department of Tourism, Citi Performing Arts Center, Last Mile Connections, Bombardier, Vercuity, YouDiligence and Agri-Mark and the Overseas and U.S. Vote Foundation projects.

Daemmon is very familiar with compliancy and secure data handling issues. Daemmon has overseen the design and development of handling sensitive voter data as a critical requirement of the Overseas Vote Foundation project. He has designed, built and implemented PCI compliant software for Overseas Vote Foundation, Dealer Dot Com and YouDiligence.

Previously, Daemmon was an Associate Professor of Web Technologies at Champlain College. He has a degree in Music from the Berkeley School of Music.

Robert Squire Board Member

As an independent Board Member of Aprexis Health Solutions, Robert Squire assists in the company’s overall strategic direction, planning and execution.

Robert served as the initial CEO of Aprexis up until 2013, overseeing the development of the company from concept thru product launch to revenue and venture funding. Robert has nearly 15 years of experience building high-growth companies with a background in online healthcare and education. Rob is currently the Director of Sales at Dane Street, an Independent Review Organization (IRO) providing medical peer reviews for national and regional insurance carriers, managed care organizations, third party administrators and group health organizations. He most recently served as the Co-founder and COO of InnovationRx, the health care unit of The Innovation Group (a worldwide leader in BPO services for the global insurance industry).

Robert holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Vermont.

Robert J. Sullivan Board Member

Board member and Treasurer Bob Sullivan has spent his career in public accounting. He began his career with an international accounting firm and has been affiliated with a large regional firm for most of his career. Bob specializes in taxation law, providing advice and management to a to a variety of diverse national and international business firms. Many of his clients are emerging businesses, and he often finds himself serving as both an outside advisor and key member of management teams.

As a CPA, he often finds himself playing a role in advising clients on a wide variety of matters, some quite apart from his tax expertise. Clients consult him on subjects as diverse as mergers, compensation plans and financing proposals.

Examples of his demonstrated versatility include serving as chairman and chief executive officer of a commercial marina operator, and chairman or key officer of several charitable and educational foundations. He served on the Board of Directors, and as Chairman of the Los Angeles chapter of Agency on Ageing, a non-profit organization whose goals were to promote improved health in seniors through efforts to improve medication monitoring, access to peer counseling, and increased access to health care services in the community. Bob currently serves as Treasurer and a member of the Board of Directors of Pacific Century Institute, a non-profit foundation whose goal is to promote international understanding and foster peace efforts throughout the Pacific Rim.

As an expert in the field of taxation, he has written many papers for technical publications, has edited a book on taxes, and has been a speaker, course developer, and lecturer for the CPA educational foundation in his home state.

Bob earned his bachelor’s degree at Boston College, and a Master’s degree at Northeastern University.
