Sean D. Teare

CO-FOUNDER:

Sean Teare brings over 15 years of experience in business development in the pharmaceutical and health care industries. Sean was instrumental in the founding of Aprexis shaping clinical and marketing goals for Aprexis. Sean has extensive experience promoting and marketing patient adherence services which led to the creation of InnovationRx, a division of The Innovation Group (LSE:TiG), a leading BPO provider to the worldwide insurance industry. Sean was tasked by IG to explore opportunities for the company in the U.S. health care space. Drawing upon his experience and passion, Sean directed the company to the issue of non-adherence and InnovationRx was launched. As President of InnovationRx, Sean oversaw sales and marketing, as well as the strategic direction of the business. Previously, while at TAP Pharmaceuticals, Inc., he was involved with the marketing of a special patient support program for the drug Lupron. In that role, he saw how a well designed program could drive significant improvements in patient adherence and increase sales. In addition to his role at TAP, Sean served as the National Sales Director for an early stage company that provided emergency medical services in partnership with Johns Hopkins Emergency Medicine Division of Special Operations. Sean received his BA from Hobart College.

CLINICAL PRACTICE:

 

Donald E. Morisky, Sc.D., Sc.M., M.S.P.H.

Professor and Director of the Doctoral Training Program in the Social and Behavioral Determinants of HIV/AIDS Prevention at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Public Health, Department of Community Health Sciences

Dr. Morisky's research addresses the social and behavioral determinants of infectious and chronic diseases management and the role of provider/patient communication and family-member involvement in improving adherence to medical recommendations. Prior to his coming to UCLA, he was on the faculty of the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health where he received his Doctorate of Science in Health Education and Health Behavior. He has consulted with numerous global health organizations, including WHO, UNFPA, UNAIDS, USAID, and UNICEF.

He has published over 120 research articles in top-tiered journals. He has conducted numerous research studies on the health care provider's role in disease management. Dr. Morisky's Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS) is used throughout the world to assess medication-taking behavior among patients with chronic and long-term infectious diseases such as HIV and tuberculosis, and has been referenced in over 350 medical journals.

He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Health Behavior, the Society of Public Health Education, and Fellow, Council on Epidemiology, American Heart Association. Dr. Morisky is on the Editorial Advisory Board of the American Journal of Health Behavior. In 2006, he was awarded the prestigious Elizabeth Fries Prize for substantial contribution to advancing the field of health education/health promotion through research, program development, and program delivery.

Gary S. Rose, Ph.D.

Gary S. Rose, Ph.D. is a professor at the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology, adjunct faculty at Northeastern University and has held faculty positions at Harvard and Tufts Medical Schools. He is also an adviser to the Board of Directors of MINT, the international organization of Motivational Interviewing trainers. Dr. Rose has been teaching, practicing, and researching Motivational Interviewing since 1992, and lectures widely in the U.S. and U.K. Dr. Rose has worked closely with William R. Miller and Stephen Rollnick, the originators of MI, and among many other publications has recently published with Dr. Miller, “Toward a Theory of Motivational Interviewing.”

In addition to his work in Motivational Interviewing, Dr. Rose has served as a co-principal investigator and consultant on many grants studying health behavior change and practitioner - patient communication. He is currently working with the Mayo Clinic on the design of effective brief interventions to address childhood obesity, Tufts University School of Medicine on effective adherence related communication for HIV physicians, Johns Hopkins Medical School on the analysis of physician-patient communication patterns, and the VA Medical Center on the promotion of work rehabilitation among psychiatrically impaired veterans. Dr. Rose is a licensed clinical psychologist and a member of the American Psychological Association.

Dr. Rajesh Balkrishnan Ph.D., M.S., B.S.

Dr. Balkrishnan is a quantitative health services researcher, and his research generally focuses on application of statistical methodology in examining issues related to effectiveness of medical care delivery (especially pharmaceuticals) and health outcomes/pharmacoeconomic evaluation in chronic disease. In particular, he has a very strong disease-specific research interest in outcomes evaluation in chronic diseases, and study of outcomes related to controller pharmacotherapy (especially diabetes, psoriasis, and asthma).

Dr. Balkrishnan has published nearly 200 research articles in high profile journals such as Medical Care, Health Services Research, Health Affairs, Lancet, Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and has co-authored the definitive text on health services research evaluation. He also serves on the editorial board of journals such as Clinical Therapeutics and The American Journal of Managed Care. Dr. Balkrishnan has led and participated in several research projects in the area of health outcomes, pharmacoeconomic evaluation and pharmaceutical health services research. His research has won the best presentation award at International Society of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research Annual International meeting in 2003 and 2006.

BUSINESS AFFAIRS:

 

Tom Lytle

Tom entered the health care industry when he joined Pfizer, and during more than 20 years with the company, he gained a broad range of industry experience in a series of sales, marketing and marketing management positions across several therapeutic categories. At Amgen, Tom served as VP, New Products and VP, Strategic Marketing and Business Development, where he had responsibility for shaping markets and products for launch, and for developing plans for the commercialization of early stage new products. Currently, he serves on several boards and is an Adjunct Professor, teaching graduate level courses in Pharmaceutical Sales and Marketing and Competitive Intelligence. Mr. Lytle has a degree in Marketing at Western Michigan University and a graduate degree in business at LaSalle University in Philadelphia.

William Fulton

Will is the Founder and CEO of Dane Street, a leading medical review company offering peer reviews and independent medical examinations to the Workers Compensation, Disability, Group Health and Auto/Liability industries. Prior to founding Dane Street, Will served as COO for Innovation Group, North America, (a world-wide provider of Business Process Outsourcing services for the insurance industry) where he was responsible for the overall management of the company and its various products and services. This included the management and operations of Call Centers, Process Management and Network Management, as well as business development and new ventures. Prior to Innovation Group, Will held key management positions at First Notice Systems, (the nation’s premier provider of First Notice of Loss services) since 1996. Will graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Vermont.
